What has your Steeped Tea Business given you?
Three years ago, my husband and two daughters and myself moved back to my hometown to purchase my Amma’s House (Icelandic for grandmother). It had always been a dream to own the 1919 2 ½ storey house that had been in my family since the 1950s. I left a 15-year permanent teaching contract to follow my dreams, and have been on year long temporary contracts since. For the past year and a half, Steeped Tea has allowed me to build a business that has been supplementing our income, in case I don’t get a teaching position each Fall. It has allowed our family to follow our dreams and not feel the pressure that I may not get a teaching position.
What has contributed most to your overall success with Steeped Tea?
I made a goal when I started to commit 30 minutes every day to my tea business no matter what is going on. These days, as my business grows, I usually spend more than 30 minutes but when the days get super busy with teaching and pottery, I make sure that I have done at least 30 minutes. I listen to training calls during my commute to school, talk favourite teas with my tea besties or reach out to a customer in those 30 minutes, which keeps me on track to having a successful tea business.
What is one tip you would give to new Consultants as they get started on their journey?
A great tip is to set a monthly goal; a 3-month goal and a one year goal and write them down so that you can see them daily!
What is one tip you would give to a new Leader?
A great tip that I keep coming back to is to find another Leader that you can chat with about your role as a Leader. I see this role as something to be shared so that you can network and be a great Leader for your team. Being a strong Leader is to be a collaborator!
What are your goals for this year?
I have so many goals within my Steeped Tea business! The top three is
1. To earn Hawaii for two, as I left my husband at home when I went to Jamaica
2. To reach $2500 for Personal Volume each month for the spring/summer catalog
3. Earn every incentive that the company throws at me
What’s your best parTEA tip?
